Made slowly, by two hands.
Stoneware pinched open by thumb, candles poured into that same clay, flowers cut in white and green, and a cast of watercolour faces. Small numbers. No two the same.

Hanly is a name. Say it quickly and you've already said handmade. Nobody planned that — it just turned out that the person's name and the way the work gets done are the same sound.

Pinched open by thumb, never thrown. The rim waves because a hand-pulled rim always waves. The legs are rolled one at a time, so they never quite match — that's the part people reach out and touch first.
Most of the surface stays bare so the clay reads as skin. Glaze goes on one feature only.

Burn it all the way down. Keep the cup.
The same clay, pinched into a small cheeky seat and poured with wax. Iron in the body freckles the surface in the kiln, so the speckling is different on every one.
When the wax is finished, wash it out. It was always a cup.

Flowers
White and green, every single week.
Loose and garden-style, never more than two colours: roses, chrysanthemum, green trick dianthus, hypericum, seeded eucalyptus. Bought at market the morning they're delivered.
Standing weekly orders go to front desks, lobbies and production offices around LA. Swapped out, taken away, paused any week you're dark.

The same hand, on a flatter surface.
Before the clay there were pens. Watercolour faces, drippy lettering, one-off paintings — drawn, scanned, printed, cut. Most of them end up on somebody's water bottle by the end of the week.

Nothing here is needed. That was never the point.
A cup you didn't need, a candle you'll burn anyway, flowers that die on purpose. What they have in common is that someone sat down and made them slowly, and you can tell by looking.
